Four Tips for a Safe Holiday in US

A vacation in US can be an experience in everything big; big roads, big vehicles, big people and big space. Contrary to images portrayed in movies, it is not big in crime. Movies, TV programs and news show US as a place filled with gang wars and everyday murders but it is so because only something different is worth displaying. Like any other country it is a place with people going about their work, families are enjoying their time together and teenagers doing what they are best at doing-having fun! Even with its gun laws and gagster wars, US is as safe as any other country in the world. And like anywhere else, taking care of a few things can keep you safe on your vacation.
1.Every city has its good and bad areas. So, it would be prudent to talk to the locals and find out the areas to be avoided. These may be areas with aggressive night life, gang related shootings or red-light areas. Your hotel staff can be your information source or you can talk to your tour operator. It is best to avoid these areas at all times even if you may feel a little curious at times.
2.Night times can be bad even in good neighborhoods. And if you are new in the city, avoid travelling around at night unless you are with a trusted local. Ensure that if you use local transport at night, there are enough travellers around.
3.Being alone is not good for a tourist. So, avoid areas that are not populated or become empty after certain time. Remain in areas with crowds and follow usual tourist pathways. If you want to explore some local areas, take a tourist guide or a local friend along so that you will not wander into a dangerous neighborhood or situation.
4.As rental cars are the preferred form of intercity and intra-city travels in US, you may also like to explore this option. It is much cheaper than using other options and gives you a lot of flexibility to manage your trip. But while traveling by car, take care of a few things:
a. Never stop in deserted patches of the road
b. Never stop for or give lift to strangers
c. Always have a mobile phone handy and dial 911 in case of any problem
d.A police officer will always be in a designated vehicle so never believe anyone else
e. Park in designated and well-lit parking areas
f. Have complete directions and avoid stopping to ask for directions as it identified you as an outsider.
g. Always store your valuables in the trunk and away from prying eyes.
These four will save you a lot of trouble and we will share some more later.
